2010 Beta Supermoto

Italian company Beta have revealed details of their 2010 range of Supermoto, Dual Sport and Enduro machines.

The Beta bikes will feature a new engine and chassis, designed in-house and available as 400, 450 and 520 models, although the actual engine capacity varies a little from the model numbers. The Beta machines are very much aimed at the competition market, with a `ready-to-race’ philosophy behind the design and manufacture of the bikes. High quality components from Braking, Domino, Marzocchi, Pirelli and others are all used on the Beta 2010 range.

The Supermoto and Dual Sport models utilise the larger capacity, Beta designed 450/510cc single cylinder engines. It’s a high compression ( 11:1), SOHC, 4 valve unit, with a 39mm carb and six speed gearbox, plus twin oil pumps inside its compact crankcases. There’s an electric start, with a kick lever as back-up.

Suspension is by Marzocchi 45mm forks at the front and a Sachs monoshock at the rear, with a wide range of adjustment at both ends, plus plenty of travel. The seat height is a lofty 36.5 inches on the Dual Sport and 35 inches on the Supermoto. Both models feature wavy style discs by Braking, with a twin piston caliper on the front.

The 450/520 Beta bikes are very lightweight at 254lbs dry and although they will be road legal, the Beta Supermoto and Dual Sport are essentially competition motorcycles, best used on the track.

One other feature for 2010 from the Italian company, is`BYOB,’ or Build or Your Own Beta. This allows the buyer to choose from over 60 custom accessories or parts upgrades to their bikes and have it delivered, to their own exact spec, direct to their local Beta dealer. Great idea.

There’s no word on UK Beta prices as yet, but insidebikes is guessing the Supermoto will cost around £6500-£7000. The UK importer is John Lampkin motorcycles, based in Silsden, West Yorkshire.
