95% back bikes in bus lanes
Peugeot scooters UK has revealed the results of an online survey, which show the public overwhelmingly back Boris Johnson’s trial of allowing motorcycles, scooters and mopeds to use London’s bus lanes.
Furthermore, the public believe that bikes should use all bus lanes in the UK, not just selected routes. After Peugeot asked 1,000 people to respond to an online poll, the vast majority agreed that two-wheelers should be allowed in bus lanes, right across the UK, making commuting easier and contributing to reduced vehicle emissions in towns and cities.
There are fourteen towns and cities in the UK with bus lanes, and apart from London, Bristol and Northern Ireland, many councils restrict bus lane access to cyclists, black taxicabs and buses.
A typical 50cc-125cc four stroke scooter, like the Peugeot V-Clic, does around 75-100mpg, meets Euro 3 emissions standards and uses far less resources to manufacture than all cars, even small ones. With the RRP starting at about £1000, a scooter is a cost-effective solution to traffic congestion too.
