All electric Lightcycle hits streets

Fans of the movie Tron may have found the bike of their dreams, with the iconic lightcycle taking to the streets of the US thanks to Parker Brothers Choppers.

The bike is based on the conveyance from 2010′s Tron: Legacy and is powered by a 96 volt electric motor that propels it to a top speed in excess of 100mph. Lithium-ion batteries mean that the Lightcycle will travel up to 100 miles on a single charge, with a mere 35-minute recharge time.

Practicality hasn’t been a key design consideration and the Lightcycle does look difficult to ride, although there’s no denying its head-turning ability, especially at night.

There’s no word yet on pricing or availability of All Electric Lightcycle, but the original Suzuki 4-stroke driven model is still being sold through Hammacher Schlemmer for an the asking price of $55,000.
