Aspiring to set a new world record
Aspire, the national spinal cord injury charity along with Knobblies, GB Riders and EuroK Motorcycle clubs are holding a charity D-Day ride out to raise vital funds for Aspire.
They are also attempting to set a new world record for the most amount of motorbikes on a train on the ride out on 12th and 13th June 2010 with around 500 bikers with their bikes on the Eurotunnel as they make their way to Le Touquet to commemorate the D-Day landing. The Ride Out is open to all bikers, from the scooterist to the classic cruiser.
Everyone is really excited about the challenge, “this is an amazing opportunity and with the support of Eurotunnel, we are seeing it all become a reality. It is set to be a wonderful event and we are hoping it will raise around £25,000 to help those with spinal cord injury” said Chris Field, Head of Fundraising and Marketing.
Whilst Knobblies, GB Riders and EuroK have been doing Ride Outs for many years, this project came from learning the statistic that every week 2 bikers are paralysed through spinal cord injury. The D-Day ride out will raise vital funds for Aspire, who provide practical support for those with spinal cord injury, through projects such as housing, technology and human needs grants.
Bikers from across the country have the opportunity to get involved in the record attempt. All they need to do is sign up through www.aspire.org.uk/bikers or email bikers@aspire.org.uk
