Barber wins first TTXGP
Rob Barber wrote his name into the history books by becoming the first rider to win the zero-emission TTXGP on the Isle of Man.
The Team Agni rider, who dominate earlier practice sessions, became the first rider to win the IOM TT for electric, zero-emission motorcycles in the single-lap event on Friday morning.
Barber came home in a time of 25mins 53.5secs, an average speed of 87.434mph, three minutes ahead of Team XXL rider Thomas Schoendelder.
Barber quickly passed early leaders Thomas Montano and Glen Helen to take the lead and was aided by a mechanical failure to the much-fancied Mark Miller that forced him out before he could even reach the first checkpoint.
Schoendelder did have the honour of recording the fastest speed of the race, being clocked at 106.5mph at the Sulby speed trap.
Mark Buckley on the Team Brammo entry finished third out of the 13-rider field.
