Bautista Reportedly Signs for Suzuki MotoGP
Alvaro Bautista has reportedly signed for Suzuki MotoGP for the 2010 season.
The 24-year old young rider from Spain has been snapped up by Suzuki in a team that is exempt from the ‘no rookies’ rule.
Suzuki do not have to comply with the ‘no rookies’ rule as they do not supply any satellite teams so their acquisition of Bautista will allow the young rider to compete and play for the factory squad.
Currently, no information has been released regarding who Bautista will replace in MotoGP, however the news that he has moved to the team for the 2010 season ends speculation about where the rider will go.
Bautista had previously competed in the 250cc class of the Grand Prix Motorcycle World Championship for the Master Mapfre Aspar Aprilia team, ending the 2009 season in second behind Simoncelli.
In addition to the rumours surrounding Bautista, Hector Barbera has reportedly been signed to Aspar to pilot the Desmosedici GP10. Currently fourth in the 250cc world championship, Barbera would move to Aspar from the Pepe World Apilla outfit.
Official statements announcing the signings are expected at the weekend.
