Bayliss will line up with Mark Webber at Wembley.
Troy Bayliss will team up with F1 star Mark Webber in the 2008 Race of Champions at Wembley Stadium.
The World Superbikes Champion will go head to head with seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher, British F1 driver Jenson Button and three-time World Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx in the Wembley showpiece on December 14.
Other confirmed drivers include Torro Rossi F1 driver Sebastian Vettel.
Bayliss, who represented the ‘All-Star’ team which made the final of the 2001 ROC Nations Cup in Gran Canaria, will team up with Webber to form the first Australian team since the events inauguration in 1988.
Bayliss, who currently leads the Superbike World Championship as it heads to Brands Hatch this weekend, admitted that he is looking forward to the chance to fight for his country.
“I am really excited to be part of the Australian team alongside Mark Webber this year at The Race of Champions,” said the 39-year-old. “It’s the first time there has been an Aussie contingent so we will be looking forward to having a good time there.”
Bayliss isn’t the only bike racer to have tackled the event before - MotoGP stars Valentino Rossi and James Toseland have both competed in the past, while Motocross ace and eight-times X Games Champion Travis Pastrana has fought against - and beaten - many stars from the world of four-wheel racing over the past three years.
Last year’s drivers cup was won by Swedish touring car driver Mattias Ekström whilst Germany won the Nations Cup, beating Finland in the final.
