Bikes are the stars at the NEC

Added on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 by Carole Nash Editor | No Comments

Daredevil tricks, world famous bikes, new machines and a huge range of activities at the NEC this week.

Fans of the Hollywood blockbuster Batman are also in for a treat, with the amazing "Bat-Pod", featured in the latest Batman film "The Dark Knight" being displayed in Hall 2.

The Carole Nash International Motorcycle and Scooter Show gets underway on Friday 28th November and there is plenty in store for bike fans over the next nine days, including the unveiling of several flagship models from the leading marques.

The best of the best from the racing world, daredevil attractions, a host of new models and the star of a Hollywood blockbuster film will all be on show at the NEC in Birmingham between November 28 and December 7.

BMW, Kawasaki and Suzuki will be amongst the brands finally lifting the curtain on their latest creations, with BMW using the event at the NEC in Birmingham, sponsored by motorcycle insurance broker Carole Nash, to launch their assault on the 2009 World Superbikes Championship.

The German manufacturer will be officially launching the S1000 RR model that they hope will see riders Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus challenging the more established brands at circuits around the world in 2009.

Although the road-going version of the S1000 RR is not due to be in showrooms in early 2010, BMW dealers will be receiving stock of several new models, including a number of up-rated 1,300cc machines.

The K1300 S, K1300 R and K1300 GT all being re-launched with major tweaks with the K1300 S now the most powerful street legal BMW on the market, boasting 175hp and 103 ft-lb of torque at 8250rpm.

The all-new F 800 R naked roadster, launched this week at EICMA Milan Show, will also star in Birmingham. Offering styling similar to Chris Pfeiffer’s famous stunt bike and 87 hp from its vertical twin engine, this is an exciting newcomer to BMW’s mid range bikes with a price expected to be sub £6000.

Over on the Kawasaki stand, the new Ninja ZX-6R and ER-6 will be amongst the attractions alongside the new range of off-roaders.

Elsewhere in the 2,045,142 square foot venue will be the all new Suzuki GSX-R which will inevitably have cameras flashing in its direction, especially when a few styling tweaks, according to the Suzuki PR people, “make the new bike a great performer and even sexier.”

Alongside it on the Suzuki stand will be the new Suzuki Gladius 650 and a reworked SV650 V-Twin as well as a collection of the Japanese manufacturer’s race-going machines from the 2008 BSB, MotoGP and WSB championships.

Racing fans will have plenty to keep them occupied away from the Suzuki and BMW stands as well. British Superbike Constructor’s Champions GSE Racing will be present with Leon Camier and new rider James Ellison on hand to sign autographs. Kawasaki’s MotoGP and WSB machines will be on show and organisers of the Isle of Mann TT, along with Getty Images, are set to make a major announcement over next year’s event.

Fans of the Hollywood blockbuster Batman are also in for a treat, with the amazing “Bat-Pod”, featured in the latest Batman film “The Dark Knight” being displayed in Hall 2.

Don’t forget the huge range of activities and shows also on offer, with every show free of charge on Friday 28th to all ticket holders.
