Bikes could feature in GT5
The hit racing game Gran Turismo 5 could feature motorcycles, according to the game’s head developer.
Kazunori Yamauchi, head of Polyphony Digital which develops the game, has said that motorcycles could be included as part of the game’s downloadable content on the PlayStation 3 if the demand from customers was strong enough.
He told PSM3 magazine: “The environment we have right now allows us to drive motorcycles, but we need to get Gran Turismo 5 done first. Once that’s out of the way, if there’s a strong demand for bikes, that’s something we’d consider.”
Polyphony Digital is no stranger to developing motorcycle racers, having previously been behind the Tourist Trophy title for the PlayStation 2.
Since the original Gran Turismo was released in 1997, the series has gone on to sell more than 56million copies worldwide. GT5 is due to be released worldwide later this year, with an official release date set to be announced at the end of this month.
