Carole Nash boss reaches North Pole
David Newman, Chief Executive of Britain’s biggest bike insurance broker, Carole Nash, has successfully completed his expedition to the North Pole.
David and the team, who began his journey to the pole last twelve days ago to raise money for Riders for Health and the Brain and Spinal Injury Centre at Hope Hospital, Manchester, called back to the UK at 15:14 (BST) via satellite from the ice at 90°N, the geographic North Pole.
David is becomes one of the first people in the world to officially “check in” from the North Pole through the popular location-based social networking network, Foursquare, earning him the North Pole badge.
David has been providing updates throughout his adventure, with a regular blog and podcast called in live from the ice surface gaining an avid following amongst his family, friends, colleagues, Carole Nash customers and online followers from around the world.
Fans of his blog have followed the trials and tribulations of his adventure, including unseasonably mild and stormy weather in the Arctic, the hazards of open water and massive schedule delays throughout the journey.
David is expected to call back to the UK on his return to the Russian ice station in Barneo, with a further update on his adventure.
