Ducati 848 race series 2010
Dates have been officially announced for the 2010 Ducati 848 Challenge race series. The one-make series is aimed at privateer road racers who want to compete aboard one of the sharpest-handling sportbikes on the market. There are six UK rounds, with a couple of international rounds thrown in, but Ducati UK have tried to make this a good value way to sample road racing.
There are eight rounds in total, with two overseas, at Assen in Holland and Misano in Italy. The Misano round is pretty much unmissable for Ducati road racers, as it takes place during World Ducati Week 2010, when the circuit plays host to thousands of fans from across the world.
The UK action kicks off at Silverstone on 25th April 2010, moving to Oulton Park on 1st-3rd May, ( which is a BSB meeting ) with the Assen visit taking place on the last weekend in May. Misano is on 12th-13th June, then Snetterton 17th-18th July. A televised BSB round at Brands in August gives sponsors a showcase on 7th-8th, then 11th September at Castle Combe and 2nd-3rd October at Cadwell finish things off for the season.
“The series is open for 848 road bikes which meet our slightly adapted Superstocks class rules,” says organiser Chris Bushell, ” and basically all you need is a new or used Ducati 848 to compete. Many Ducati dealers can offer packages so that bike, plus riding kit, is all included. It really is the best value road racing – and you get the chance to show off your skills to 50,000 World Ducati Week fans.”
The Dunlop D211 will be the control tyre used for the 848 Challenge by the way.
