Ducati’s Streetfighter is a winner

Ducati’s new Streetfighter model, due in the UK next Spring, was voted the best looking machine by EICMA show visitors, in a survey organised by the Italian Motociclismo magazine, following the Ducati 2009 range launch in Milan.

The new Streetfighter bike will be available in standard and an S version next year, with both powered by a 155bhp V-Twin motor. The S variant will feature Ohlins supension, Marchesini wheels, plus the new Ducati traction control and data download system. The S version Streetfighter looks set to be a really exciting bike to ride, with a dry weight of just 167Kgs.

Both Streetfighter models have a trellis frame, 1098cc engine and feature a brand new twin exit exhaust system, monobloc brake calipers and a lengthened swingarm for better stability at speed. Ducati say that the new bike captures the spirit that prompted backstreet customisers to create the early Streetfighter machines of the late 80s and early 90s.

There’s no word on the UK price as yet, but more info may be available at the Carole Nash International Motorcycle Show, which opens on Friday 28th October 2008, at the NEC near Birmingham.
