e-motive launch bike scrappage scheme

e-motive, one of the most established companies selling electric scooters in the UK, is to pilot its own version of the government’s car scrappage scheme, encouraging bike riders to trade in their current scooter or bike for an electric scooter.

The scheme, known as ‘Ride Green’, will allow anyone with a motorcycle or scooter with a current MOT, in any age or condition, to part exchange it and receive a £500 allowance against the purchase price of a new e1 or e3 e-motive electric scooter.  The trial scheme is being piloted during February and March by one of e-motive’s dealers, BVM-Moto www.bvm-moto.co.uk and, if successful will be rolled-out across the country.  (Subject to availability and Terms & Conditions).

Virtually identical in appearance to their petrol powered equivalents, e-motive claims that their scooters offer running costs of just 1p per mile.  The e3, the top of the e-motive range, can go up to 70 miles between charges from a domestic electrical supply and all models require no fuel, oil or spark plugs. Aside from tyres, the bikes are virtually maintenance free.

All e-motive scooters come with a comprehensive two-year unlimited mileage warranty for the bike, while Silicon batteries carry a 12 month warranty, and 24 months for the Lithium Ion battery. All new e-motive electric scooters also come with two years free AA roadside assistance.

“At around 1p per mile, an e-motive scooter is cheaper than taking the bus,” said Paul Williams, managing director of e-motive’s importer, Koelliker UK. “It provides all the benefits of ‘go when you like’ personal transport without the hassle, while also doing your bit for the environment.

“With petrol prices now nudging £1.30p/litre, and the cost of public transport and car parking on the rise, an increasing number of people are beginning to explore how they can travel more economically.  Whether for commuting to work, shopping or just getting around and socializing, an electric scooter gets you there more cheaply; and with zero emissions, you’re not creating CO2 pollution and smelly exhaust fumes.”
