Edwards launches attack on Toseland
Colin Edwards has continued his war of words with Yamaha teammate James Toseland following the official MotoGP test in Sepang.
Edwards has had little time for his Yamaha Tech 3 teammate after the Brit asked for a swap in crew chiefs mid-way through last season, with Edwards’ chief Gary Reynders moving to Toseland’s side of the garage and Guy Coulon moving in the other direction. Toseland cited a communication problem for the decision to swap – something that angered the American.
Toseland struggled to keep pace throughout the latter part of 2008 and his struggles continued at Sepang last weekend, when a 125mpg high-side on the opening day scuppered his ambitions of posting any sort of competitive time and the sight of the Brit behind him on the timesheets was a pleasing sight for Edwards as he explained in an official blog on the Indianapolis MotoGP site.
“It’s funny. We don’t talk anymore after this little incident,” said the 35-year-old. “We looked good in front of him, (Toseland) being two-and-a-half seconds off the pace.
“That was good times. You should hear some of the comments being made. He got the crew chief he wanted. That was going to make all the difference in the world, and we just sit and laugh. We have a good time.
“I thought I was pretty happy last year with my crew chief. They co-conspired to kind of stick it in my (rear), if you want to say that.
“They decided for my crew chief to go to James, and James decided that my crew chief was better than his. His crew chief last year, I’m with now, and he’s awesome. Guy is awesome.
“He’s got so much experience. I think he’s been doing it since early 70s. I’m really happy. I’m a lot happier with my crew chief. It’s just so relaxed.
“I don’t have to stroke ego like I did last year. Everybody’s just so relaxed, just happy to be riding motorcycles.”

February 16th, 2009Hi i have always followed both guys , and Colin has been a great rider over the years and has had some great teamates . Its a shame James has started the year on bad terms, so both of you try and get on for the team and the championship.
