Euro MP hosting biking surgery
MEP Peter Skinner is to hold a special “motorcycle surgery” to discuss riders’ concerns over new EU regulations currently being proposed.
Mr Skinner, Labour MEP for the South East region, has himself publically spoken out over regulations that would effectively ban most forms of modifications to bikes and will hold the Q&A session after receiving a “high volume” of correspondence from bikers in his constituency.
The event will take place P&H Motorcycles in Crawley, West Sussex, on 14th January 2012, with Mr Skinner taking questions from 2pm.
He is hoping to hear all rider concerns about EU legislation first hand, as well as discuss rider training issues, the state of the retail bike industry and the future of the whole industry in light of various legislation, both proposed and under discussion for future proposal.
“Biking has a rich history in the South East and we’re all familiar with the sight of columns of motorcycles making their way to the coast on bank holiday weekends,” said Mr Skinner.
“For many biking is a passion and one of the great attractions is the freedom it offers. We need to be careful not to overregulate and I will be supporting our region’s bikers in their bid to protect their identity. We need a common sense approach here and that’s what I’ll be telling Brussels.”
The address of the venue is:
