Free Get On Taster at NEC Bike Show

Visitors to this year’s Carole Nash International Motorcycle and Scooter Show will be able to experience a free ride as part of the launch of the Get On mobile experience unit. The Show, which is held at Birmingham’s NEC and runs from 27 November to 6 December, attracts thousands of non-bikers every year who come along as friends, family and pillions of existing riders and each one of these will now have the opportunity to experience the thrill of riding for themselves.

The Get On campaign already offers anyone over the age of 16 years-old the opportunity to try a free one hour taster by simply registering at www.geton.co.uk, which since its launch earlier this year has proved overwhelmingly popular and in the last week alone has attracted over 2,500 signups for a free ride.

The campaign is being supported by a mobile unit which will visit popular events, festivals and attractions over the next two years and allow members of the public to enjoy a FREE taste of riding in a safe and protected environment with qualified instructors. The much anticipated unit will be unveiled at the Show, which is the second largest consumer show in the UK, attracting over 140,000 visitors every year.

To Get On at the Show, visitors will need to book a session by visiting the unit in Hall 3. Sessions will be run throughout the day, but it is expected that the demand will be high, so to be sure of getting a slot it is advisable to make a booking as early in your visit as possible.

“We’re hugely excited to be launching the Get On unit at the Bike Show,” said Get On Experience Co-Ordinator Nick Stephenson. “The best way to show people the great benefits of riding a motorcycle or scooter is to actually get them on a bike and give them a chance to experience the sense of fun and freedom for themselves.

“The Show traditionally attracts a lot of non-bikers who come along as family, friends and pillion riders of existing riders, so it should be the ideal opportunity to unveil the unit and promote the joys of riding to a whole new audience.”

Daren Gough, who has been inspired to take up riding since doing the Get On taster session said, “I’ve always been interested in riding a motorcycle but didn’t have the chance while I was playing cricket for England. Over the summer I heard about Get On and did the experience session which was fantastic.

“It gives people the opportunity to try riding without making any financial commitment. For me it was even better than I could have imagined and I’ve already gone on to do my CBT and will hopefully be taking my full bike test soon.”
