French twist on Harley XR1200

French Harley dealer, Milwaukee-twin.com, based in Metz, have added a bit of Gallic flair to the Harley-Davidson XR1200 model.

The all-rounder bike was always designed as a tribute to the oval dirt-track racebikes of the 60s and 70s, but modern legislation dictated certain styling features, like large emissions-friendly exhausts, big indicators, mirros etc. Arguably, the standard XR1200 lacks the lean and hungry looks of the original XR750 racer, although it is a handsome beast.

So Metz-based Milwaukee Twin decided that an old-school paint job, in traditional XR orange and white colours was the first thing that needed doing. Local specialists Bloody Tangelo paint supplied the work, which cost 3000 euros. Next up some Rizoma mirrors and mini-indicators, plus a machined from aluminium billet headstock were added to the mix.

The finishing touches included a pair of louder Remus pipes, an RRC rear light lens, plus H-D Black Diamond handlebars and stubby levers.

The result is an XR1200 which echoes the real thing with that bit of extra pizazz, yet is still an everyday ride, with a total bill of some 3800 euros above the stock model cost. Tres cool.
