GP Champions under the hammer
If you’re a Grand Prix fan with a spare £315,000, why not try and get your hands on a World Champion?
The Suzuki 500 XR40 that took Franco Uncini to the 1982 World Championship is just one of 16 famous motorcycles going under the hammer at COYS famous Legende et Passion sale which is held at the Espace Fontvieille in Monaco.
The star attraction of the auction, Uncini’s number 13 is expected to fetch a whopping €350,000 although there is plenty of racing pedigree ready to be let loose in the auction house.
Other bikes up for sale include both the 1990 and 1991 World Championship winning Honda 125 RSR’s ridden by current Rizla Suzuki rider and MotoGP record-breaker Loris Capirossi, the Aprilia 250 number 44 ridden by Jean-Michel Bayle in 1992 and a 1973 Morbidelli 125 number 1, the property of 13-times World Champion Angel Nieto.
Chris Routledge the Managing Director of the International Auction house said: “It is one thing selling a machine which has such a fantastic history but to have the actual rider in attendance is really special and a real plus for whoever purchases the bike.”
