Harley Donates Bikes to Haiti Aid
Harley-Davidson is shipping out 28 motorcycles to aid the earthquake relief effort in Haiti, the company has announced.
The company is donating the motorcycles to help aid workers to make their way across the devastated region, accessing parts of the country that are proving otherwise difficult to reach on the crippled road infrastructure.
The motorcycles, largely unsold Buell and Harley-Davidson stock, are being shipped to the neighbouring Dominican Republic where they will then be handed to the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in Haiti.
“Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this devastating disaster in Haiti,” said Rod Copes, Sr. Vice President of International Sales, Marketing and Business Development for Harley-Davidson. “As the relief and stabilisation efforts continue, motorcycles can often offer a higher degree of manoeuvrability and access than other types of vehicles.”
The motorcycles will remain in Haiti as a permanent donation to the government.
