Hyde Harrier Bonnie at NEC Show
One of the legendary names in Triumph tuning, Norman Hyde, will be showing off his company’s new Harrier Bonneville cafe racer at the NEC show, sponsored by Carole Nash Insurance, which opens this week.
The 2009 Harrier uses a Harris frame, made from T45 Reynolds tubing, just like the great cafe racers of the 70s and 80s. Details like adjustable trail, eccentric chain adjustment and gas-damped twin shocks at the rear, help to keep the new generation Harrier close to the spirit of the original.
The latest model, which will be available as a basic rolling chassis for Hinckley Bonneville owners who wish to use their existing engine, switchgear, cables, etc. is to make its debut to the press tomorrow at the NEC Motorcycle show.
The Harrier uses the 2000-2008 Bonneville 865cc twin cylinder engine, running carbs rather than more modern fuel injection. The motor isn’t tuned, but a Harris performance exhaust is fitted and there are plans to offer some hop-up parts for the engine.
Ohlins suspension front and rear, Dymag wheels and AP racing brake calipers offer 21st century braking and handling, so even using a stock engine a decent rider will get much more from the Harrier Bonnie.
As is traditional with a cafe racer, a single seat and slim half-fairing finish off the sleek, lean styling of the bike. There’s no word on price as yet, but insidebikes will be interviewing Norman this week to find out more about this modern, hand-built, British bike with classic cafe racer style.
