Manchester Show Cancelled
The National Motorcycle Show in Manchester has been cancelled due to poor weather conditions, organisers have confirmed.
The show, due to take place at the Manchester Central Convention Centre (formerly the GMEX) this weekend has been postponed after organisers raised concerns over the safety of visitors and exhibitors making their way to the venue.
Around 45 exhibitors who were confirmed to appear at the show had informed organisers that they would be unable to attend the show due to snow and icy conditions that have affected the whole of the UK. Manchester itself was severely affected by snow storms that hit the North of England on Tuesday and with conditions not forecast to improve ahead of this weekend, the difficult decision to cancel the show was taken.
“Rather than put on half a show, we would rather bring it back to Manchester in a couple of months,” read a statement.
A date in April has been earmarked, with details to be announced in due course.
Any visitors who have purchased tickets will be contacted by the ticking agency Ticket Factory, who will arrange either a refund or a ticket for the rearranged date.
Howard Cartledge, Show Director, said: “With a show like the National Motorcycle Show safety has always been of utmost importance to us, and we just won’t take the risk for exhibitors or visitors.
“With the extreme weather travel conditions to and from the venue are just too dangerous, and as many as 45 of our exhibitors, and the stunt teams, are snowed-in across the UK and unable to travel to Manchester.
“It is with huge regret and extreme disappointment that we have had to make this decision. We would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard on the show.”
