NCR Millona Ducati special
NCR are Ducati specialists, founded in 1967, who supplied some of the parts used on Mike Hailwood’s 1978 TT-winning machine. They now make bespoke Ducati-based machines to order. The latest in this line is called the Millona M16 and will be launched at World Ducati Week 2010. The aim, say NCR, was to create a sports motorcycle using the lightest and strongest materials. The Millona M16 has a carbon fibre frame, swingarm, airbox, fuel tank and many other parts, with aircraft grade alloys used for all the mechanical parts.
The motor is a tweaked Desmosedici engine making a claimed 200bhp at the rear wheel, according to NCR. Like so many other modern sportbikes the Millona utilises traction control and MotoGP derived electronics, with three distinct mappings for the motor, to help control all this power in all road, or track conditions. NCR say that race level brakes and suspension are used to maintain the best levels of performance. The bike weighs just 145Kgs dry, or less than a MotoGP machine.
Arguably a Ducati GP bike for the road, the Millona M16 hasn’t got an official price tag and NCR state that they can make it to specific customer order, obviously in low numbers. We reckon the cost would be in the £35,000-£40,000 range and if you’re the kind of biker who invests in very rare classic machines this could be safer than leaving you money in the bank. More fun too.
