NEC showcase for 207mph special

Allen Millyard is one the best custom specials builders in the UK, with V8 Kawasaki Z1s and V6 two stroke triples behind him. His latest creation is on the Carole Nash stand at the International Motorcycle Show, which opened to press and trade visitors today, Thursday 26th November 2009.

The Millyard Viper V10 features an engine from the Dodge Viper car, which Allen sourced on e-bay for £5000. The 500bhp motor transmits its torquey power via a two-speed auto gearbox to the rear wheel, with a new rear sub-frame fabricated for the back end.  Allen also handmade the front forks, using Vauxhall Carlton damper units and Hagon springs. Six pot calipers, plus AP Lockheed front disc brakes help stop this 630kgs heavy machine.

But the weight of the bike, and the lack of fairing haven’t blunted the performance. A recent test at Bruntingthorpe saw the V10 special hit 207mph, making this arguably the fastest road legal, unfaired motorcycle in the UK. Incredibly Allen’s special passed SVA approval first go and now he’s thinking of making a limited production run.

“Everything’s been designed in my head on this bike,” said Allen on the Carole Nash Insurance stand today at the bike show, ” but I want to build a pre-production prototype and do some design drawings. We could make maybe ten bikes to individual owner specifications.”

See this fabulous special, plus the best of Britian’s Got Biking Talent, on the CN stand at the show ( 2 C20 ). Other highlights at the NEC bike show 2009  include the new Norton Commando, a Victory Core concept bike, plus the amazing BMW six cylinder concept bike seen at Milan.

The gearbox is a single speed with neutral, and it has a vacuum assisted manual clutch, this is no twist and go bike!

Apologies Allen, I misheard the gearbox explanation at the show – a single speed is even more impressive! Top work sir. alastairw
