New 2009 Honda CBR600RR

Honda have released some info on their 2009 models with the CBR600RR model getting an electronic ABS braking system. The CBR1000RR also looks set to benefit from the linked ABS braking system too.

Honda say that the new brakes have been extensively tested on track, so that sportbike riders who like to brake late and deep into corners can still enjoy the performance of the bike, yet know that the ABS will kick in only if traction is lost.

Honda do admit that during racetrack testing an expert rider was able to brake so hard that the ABS operated, but don’t see this as being an issue with the `average’ road rider.

Otherwise the bike receives some tweaks to the fairing and a re-designed cylinder head, plus new pistons and fresh engine map. The result is that Honda claim the CBR600RR has improved torque in the 8,000-12,000rpm range.

The bike also features new colour schemes for 2009 including a lime green version, as well as traditional Honda red/white/blue colours.
