New Sachs RS 50cc scooter

Sachs has unveiled a new ‘RS’ version of their 50cc Speedjet sports scooter, which should appeal to younger riders looking for their first bike, reports Alastair Walker.

With angular bodywork, finished in an eye-catching black, white and red livery, plus red brake calipers and matching rear shock absorber, the Speedjet RS looks like a typically sporty paddock scooter.

The Sachs RS features an 50cc air-cooled two-stroke engine, that offers both high performance and excellent fuel efficiency. A new catalysed sports exhaust keeps emissions to a minimum too.

Younger riders will appreciate the sharp and responsive chassis package, with a tubular steel frame, telescopic front forks, adjustable monoshock and sport profile tyres all there. Wavy disc brakes with hydraulic calipers at the front and rear offer modern braking.

There’s the usual underseat storage area, plus a dual function 12V socket for charging mobile/MP3/sat nav and an alloy luggage rack.

The Speedjet RS comes will a full 2 year manufacturer’s warranty and full after-sales support from a UK dealer network. The scooter is due to arrive in the UK in March 2010 priced at £1599.  For more information see www.sachsmotorcycles.co.uk
