Open Invite to Boorman’s Adventure
In the first of a series of blogs, motorcycle adventurer Charley Boorman, tells us about his recent UK tour, offers his support to a fellow thrill seeker and issues an open invite to any budding explorers to join him on his latest “Long Way Down” journey:
Charley Boorman here, deep in the heart of Ireland – in the Wicklow Mountains to be exact. I’ve just come to the end of my UK and Ireland Live theatre tour. We’ve done 30 nights on the road, going from city to city, starting in Milton Keynes and finishing in Dublin. You may have caught a glimpse of it in your renewal paperwork and on Insidebikes as we had a special theatre price for Carole Nash customers. The trip has been another adventure, a fantastic experience meeting so many people and fans, and we’re already thinking about some dates for next year – as well as some discussions underway for a similar tour in Australia.
It’s great to see that David Newman, the MD of Carole Nash is ready to embark on his great adventure to the North Pole. What an amazing expedition that will be. Long Johns and a hot water bottle needed on that trip!
Although, after reading David’s blog and listening to his podcasts at http://northpole.carolenash.com I think it’s the ‘gun’ that worries me most! I’ve done some dodgy things in recent years, but the prospect of coming face to face with a hungry polar bear and his mates takes the biscuit! We all wish you well David – you make my trips look a little tame!
My next little adventure for 2010 is back to one of my loves – Africa. I’m taking a party of bikers from Cape Town to Victoria Falls, up through Namibia and into Zambia. This trip will be on BMW GS’ers (no surprise there eh?) and leaves on the 15th August for about 16 days. It’s an open trip – so if you fancy your very own Long Way Down with me, then get the details from www.charleyboorman.com. It’s not an enduro – it¹s an adventure and anyone can manage it. My good mate Ross Noble is coming too – so we’ll have a great laugh. All the bikes and accommodation are provided by us… so come on; get your adventure T shirts on and let¹s go!
