Pure cafe racer heaven
Pure Triumph are a dealership chain based in the midlands, and Wellingborough branch technician Jason Dean has produced one of the tastiest looking Hinckley generation Triumph cafe racers, reports Alastair Walker.
The machine was on show at Trade Expo this week attracting plenty of interest with its unique engineering touches. The engine is a stock 865cc Hinckley Triumph twin but features polished engine covers, braided hoses and an externally mounted fuel injection system. This reconfigures the performance slightly to run with the one-off titanium exhaust system which has Arrow headers and a Remus end cone on the hand-crafted pipework.
The bike captures the lines of the old school cafe racers of the 60s with a long, polished alloy fuel tank, Alcantara single seat, complete with a `68 style seat hump at the back. The chassis has a few tweaks in the shape of Showa 50mm forks, plus Bitubo shocks, which are 35mm longer than stock to match the wider, longer swingarm. The bike runs a 180 section rear tyre on a wider rim.
Galfer wave disc brakes front and rear, plus LED lighting, plus Koso instruments including a shift indicator, all help to add modern era touches onto the classic cafe racer styling. The idea is to make something that’s fun to ride on today’s busy roads, or track days, but looks inherently right. insidebikes reckons Jason has succeeded there.
Pure Triumph are considering building the Thruxton cafe racers to order. Find out more at; www.puretriumph.co.uk
