Red Bull X-Fighters Tour Grows

The Red Bull X-Fighters 2010 series will come to the UK on August 14 as part of an expanded series that will culminate in Rome on October 1.

After the success of the 2009 event, the Red Bull X-Fighters 2010, a series in brings together the best of the best from the international FMX scene, will take in new locations, culminating in the final event in Italy in October.

As it did last year, the UK event will take place at Battersea Power Station in London, where a sell-out 20,000 crowd saw America’s Nate Adams who claimed the title of Red Bull X-Fighters Champion.

The series begins in Mexico City on April 16 before the tour moves into the shadow of the Pyramids and the Sphinx of Giza in Egypt. Just weeks later, the tour moves to Red Square in Moscow before a two day event in Egypt on July 22-23. After the penultimate round in London, the series heads to the Eternal City where the champion will be crowned.

As well as the new venues, the series has now moved away from being an invitational tour to a ranking event, with qualifying based on the rider’s performance and World Tour ranking. The top six riders, Nate Adams (USA), Robbie Maddison (AUS), Eigo Sato (JPN), Mat Rebeaud (SUI), Dany Torres (ESP) and Levi Sherwood (NZL) are already seeded for the season opener in Mexico, based on their standings at the end of the 2009 season. Four spots will be battled out by six riders, who have been selected by the international Red Bull X-Fighters jury following an own application process which was started in autumn last year. 2 Wild Card riders will complete the starting list.

“This method will guarantee a fair competition on the highest sportive level with only the very best riders competing at each single Tour stop,” explained Sports Director Tes Sewell.
