Rossi Gets Second Place in Monza Rally
Moto GP world champion Valentino Rossi has demonstrated his skills on four wheels as he finished second in the Monza Rally in Italy on Saturday.
Finishing in a respectable second place, Rossi was just pipped to the post by last year’s champion Rinaldo Carello. Rossi drove to second place in a Monster Energy-backed Ford Focus WRC while Capello made it to first place in a Citroen C4 WRC.
Fabio Babini managed to hold onto second place for most of the race but fell behind towards the end after a poor type choice for his Subaru Impreza S12, allowing Rossi to snatch the second spot.
Rossi has won the non-world championship in 2006 and 2007 but failed to win the race after having to recover from a costly spin during the rally. The 30-year-old was third in his class in a touring car race last weekend has expressed that he may move into rallying on a more permanent basis when his contract with Yamaha MotoGP runs out next year. He’ll be testing a Formula One car in January.
Valentino Rossi has demonstrated his skills on two wheels can transfer to four, but will he see the same level of success in Rallying as he has in MotoGP?
