Rossi makes Yamaha quit hint

Valentino Rossi has hit-out at Yamaha following the decision to resign Jorge Lorenzo, branding the Spaniard as his “worst enemy” and claiming “I don’t deserve this”.

In an interview with GPWeek, Rossi claimed that the team’s decision to resign his main title rival for 2010 means that he was effectively developing a bike for his “worst enemy” and that the decision has left him contemplating his future with Yamaha.

Whilst Rossi and Lorenzo, publicly at least, appear to have a healthy rivalry, Rossi did suggest earlier in the year that he would have preferred Lorenzo to have signed with another team for the 2010 championship, with Honda and Ducati both thought to have been interested.

At the time of the announcement of Lorenzo’s 2010 contract, the eight-time world champion reacted positively to the decision but following events at Indianapolis, Rossi told the online magazine: “I always try to make a great work for developing the bike, and I usually make the work just for me,” he added. “But now I am also doing it for my worst enemy.

“Sincerely, I think I don’t deserve this after what I have done for Yamaha.”

The Italian, who is contracted with Yamaha until the end of 2010, also hinted that he was now re-evaluating his future when his contract expires, after previously being committed to ending his career with Yamaha.

“Before I never thought of going out of Yamaha,” he added, “but now with this situation with Lorenzo, I have to make a decision.”

This whole thing seems a little far fetched considering Rossi and Jorge don’t share data or develop the same bike. The wall that divided them efore the single tire rule still stands. So Rossi being concerned with the resignig of Jorge really doesn’t ring true. I’m betting his comments were probably supplied by the Spanish press.
