Silverstone backing the MotoGP Brits
Silverstone is urging MotoGP fans to “back the Brits” later this year, with a campaign launched in support of all eight of our home-grown stars.
Organisers are calling on fans throughout the UK to support the British riders at this year’s Grand Prix on June 12.
As well as Cal Crutchlow in MotoGP, the British flag will be flown by Bradley Smith, Scott Redding, and Kev Coghlan in Moto2 as well as Danny Kent, Danny Webb, Taylor MacKenzie and Harry Stafford in the 125cc series.
Silverstone MD Richard Phillips flew out to Jerez last week to launch the campaign as he looks to generate a fantastic atmosphere for the local riders.
“It’s fantastic that we’ve got eight British riders to get behind,” said Philips. “While Bradley (Smith), Scott (Redding) and Danny Webb all raced at Silverstone last year, the British Grand Prix will be a new experience for the other riders.
“That said, Cal won both World Superbike races on the GP circuit last year, so he will be more confident going into his home race than any other round. One thing’s for sure – there will a fantastic atmosphere at Silverstone and they can expect a rapturous reception from their home crowd.”
