Stoner on pole at Aragon

Casey Stoner was on form at Aragon this afternoon, to steal an unrivalled pole position ahead of tomorrow’s MotoGP battle.

After not earning a pole position since the season opener at Qatar, Stoner has been fighting hard to put himself back on top, with the effort finally paying off this weekend. Being the only rider to set a time below the 1m49 second mark stamds him in good stead for tomorrow.

Joining the Australian on the front row will be championship leader Jorge Lorenzo and fellow Spaniard Dani Pedrosa, with the latter continuing his strong form from recent rounds.

It was also a good day for the Americans, with Nicky Hayden echoing his Ducati teammate’s strong pace to qualify fourth, just ahead of countryman Ben Spies in fifth. Joining them on the second row of the grid tomorrow will be Randy De Puniet, with the LCR Honda MotoGP rider lining up sixth.

Valentino Rossi struggled once again, only managing the seventh quickest time, however he will undoubtedly be fired up for a strong performance tomorrow. Alongside Rossi Andrea Dovizioso takes up his position in eighth place, with Marco Simoncelli qualifying ninth. The final spot in the top ten was awarded to Hector Barbera, with Colin Edwards narrowly missing out in eleventh place.
