Suzi Perry backs National Motorcycle Week
It’s National Motorcycle Week (NMW) this month and Channel 5 TV presents and former BBC Moto GP host Suzi Perry is backing the Get On campaign, to get more people riding on the roads.
NMW runs from the 18th to the 24th July and features a Ride to Work day on the 21st. The NMW is being supported by Get On, a new campaign by the Motor Cycle Industry (MCI) which is encouraging more people to get on their bikes and on the roads, hopefully attracting more new riders and tempting existing riders back onto two wheels.
The Get On campaign is giving anyone over the age of 16 the chance to try out a scooter or 125cc geared bike absolutely free, at 150 centres all around the UK. You can get in touch with their nearest training centre at www.geton.co.uk for the chance to try out life on the road.
Perry, who recently presented the Royal Ascot coverage for the BBC, says the new campaign is a great way to get people out and about on bikes. She said: “Bikes have been a huge part of my life and are just such a fantastic way to get around. Not only do they help you get ahead of the traffic but they’re also more economical, greener and a huge amount of fun.”
“For many people, the thought of getting into biking can be a bit intimidating and it can often be confusing about what licenses and training you need to be able to ride a bike. Get On strips all this away.
Not only can anyone try riding for free without any commitment but the website also offers a one stop shop on all you need to know about getting into biking. What’s even better is that you can win great prizes just dropping into a dealer to talk about it.”
As well as the Get On campaign, riders are also being encouraged to get on their bikes on Wednesday the 21st July for Ride to Work Day, which aims to promote the fact that as well as being loads of fun, biking can also help to reduce your commute time, congestion and pollution.
