SWP Gets On for charity
The Get On campaign, which is designed to get more people onto motorbikes and scooters teamed up with the recent Shaun Wright-Phillip’s charity bike ride to support Education for the Children - a charity which is dedicated to getting some of the poorest children in South America off the streets and into the classroom.
A passionate bike enthusiast, Shaun Wright-Philips was joined by fellow Get On ambassador and West End star Ray Quinn on the ride out which started at Warr’s Harley-Davidson in Chelsea. Setting out on his custom made Trike, Wright-Phillips led the ride out to the iconic Ace Cafe in north London for breakfast before heading on to the Sanctum on the Green in Cookham Dean.
Wright-Phillips became an ambassador for Education for the Children after he made a trip to Guatemala where he saw firsthand the awful conditions facing the people of the small town of Antigua. Having made a pledge to use his profile to help make a positive change and raise vital funds and awareness for the charity, Wright-Phillips founded his annual charity ride.
A life-long bike fan Wright-Phillips currently has two personalised Trikes and is a supporter of the Get On campaign which offers anyone aged 16 or over the opportunity to try a FREE one hour session on a motorbike via www.geton.co.uk
Wright-Phillips said, “Education for the Children does incredible work and having seen firsthand the awful conditions which many children have to live in it is a cause that is very close to my heart. I also love bikes so it makes sense to tie the two together and the bike ride is a great way to pull people together and help raise some money and awareness.
“I think the Get On campaign is a great idea and am very grateful for their support. Biking has so many great benefits but many people simply don’t know how to go about getting into it so the fact people can sign up for a free go is a brilliant idea. ”
