The £36,000 Lambretta

The Lambretta Li150 scooter, as used by Phil Daniels, who played the lead role of Jimmy Cooper in the cult movie Quadrophenia, has been sold by Bonhams for a UK record price of £36,000.

The scooter was used during much of the filming of the movie, which was set in London and Brighton, during the 60s heyday of the original Mods. The Who wrote the 1975 concept album, Quadrophenia, upon which the film was based, directed by Franc Roddam.

The scooter was sold after filming to Rafferty Newman, a well known scooter specialist, who then sold it on to an enthusiast in Portsmouth. The scooter was then spotted lying in a garden, and restored by Allstyles shop, featured in Scootering magazine, and at the 1997 revival of the Quadrophenia movie.

The sale of the scooter set a UK record, but Bonhams haven’t released any details on who the buyer is.
