Tracker recovers brand new CBR600

Stolen vehicle recovery expert Tracker, in a collaborative effort with seven different police forces, has recovered a brand new Honda CBR 600 after it was stolen from Lewisham in London. The motorbike worth over £8,000 was recovered in Earl Shilton near Leicestershire, where a man was arrested in connection to the theft.

The Honda CBR 600 was fitted with Tracker market leading tracking technology which includes a movement censor that alerts Tracker to a potential theft in progress.  Tracker called the customer asking that they verify the status of the bike, which upon checking they confirmed had been stolen.  The Police were immediately notified.

A 110 mile pursuit then followed as the stolen bike, along with another motorbike, travelled up the M1 in the back of a van.  Because of the unique partnership Tracker has with all police 52 forces in the UK the bike was systematically tracked on the ground and by using air support units.  Together, Tracker and the seven police forces, including the Central Motorway Police, traced the bike through Hertfordshire, the Thames Valley, Warwickshire and the West Midlands, finally pinpointing the bike’s location in Leicestershire which resulted in its successful recovery and an arrest.

Stuart Chapman, Tracker Police Relationships Manager, says: “The speed of recovery when a motorbike is stolen is vital, before it is broken down into parts and sold on for cash. The collaborative approach with the transport police units was essential in this successful recovery. Needless to say the owner was delighted to be reunited with his bike.”

Last year alone Tracker recovered nearly £900,000 worth of stolen motorcycles and scooters. Alongside working with the Police, Tracker also works with other partners, including the Motorcycle Crime Reduction Group, to combat crime.

Tracker stolen motorcycle recovery systems work like an electronic homing device. A covert transmitter is hidden in one of several places around the motorcycle. Tracker offers the ultimate in protection as it detects when the bike is being moved without the ignition being turned on. The tracking device works even if the motorcycle is hidden in a container or transported on back of a van. Tracker is the only vehicle tracking system operated by all 52 police forces in the UK, offering bike owners the ultimate in security.
