Trials rider conquers stadium arch

South African trials rider Brian Capper has written his name in the history books by becoming the first man in history to ride across the 384-foot arch of the Durban World Cup Stadium.

Capper successfully traversed the arch that holds the roof of the 62,000 seat Moses Mabhida Stadium, which was built in 2010 for the FIFA World Cup, held in South Africa.

The stunt is part of a campaign to draw more attention to the sport of trials riding, which uses bikes that have no seat and are made to be ridden standing up. Trials competitors tackle a challenging obstacle course either in the woods or in a stadium in which they must navigate a series of climbs, jumps and balance beams under a certain time, with points deducted every time they touch a foot down to balance.
