Valentino Rossi finishes 12th in Wales Rally GB
Valentino Rossi traded in his famous two wheels for four in last weekend’s Wales Rally GB. The 6 times Moto GP champion took on the 4 day event of the Wales Rally and came in at a respectable 12th place. It’s the third WRC appearance for Rossi who completed the rally in a Ford Focus to raise money for Children in Need.
Rossi’s third appearance is arguably his best yet, during the 2006 Rally GB, he crashed out on the first stage so was unable to complete the race. An improved performance by Rossi was seen in the 2006 Rally New Zealand where he finished in 11th place. Despite finishing in 12th place during last weekend’s rally, Rossi was closer to the top, finishing just 13 minutes and 10.4 seconds behind the Rally winner; 5 times world Rally Champion: Loeb.
As one of the most consistent performers of the race, Rossi seemed pleased with the outcome, particularly as he failed to complete the race in the 2006 British Rally. He said: “I’m very happy, firstly to finish the rally and secondly to set some very good times on the four stages on the last day.”
Rossi also implied that he is keen to follow up this performance with further appearances in World Rally Championships, commenting that “The Focus was really nice to drive and it’s been fantastic working with the Stobart team; they are all very friendly and hopefully we will get a chance to work again together.”
