Yamaha bikes to star on silver screen

Yamaha once again takes to the silver screen after London based production company, Between the Eyes, chose Yamahas XT660X for the 2012 British action-thriller, Welcome To The Punch.

A fleet of six of the supermotard-inspired XT660 models have been supplied by Yamaha Motor UK,
which will feature alongside British actors James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class) and Mark Strong
(Sherlock Holmes).

Resplendent in menacing but stylish black bodywork, the XT660X’s will reflect the adrenalin packed nature of the film perfectly, looking right at home on the streets of London. They will be used in the opening sequence of the film, which sees the two main protagonists of the film duelling it out in a high speed chase scene.

Principle photography for the film, which is being directed by Eran Creevy (director of BAFTA nominated film ‘Shifty’), started on 18th July and is being filmed on location around the famous London landmark, Canary Wharf, as well as 3 Mills Studios.

Yamaha have been involved in a number of film projects in recent years including the James Bond
film ‘Quantum of Solace’ which featured Yamaha 4-stroke outboards in the major boat chase
sequence, as well as the Johnny English sequel (out September) featuring Rowan Atkinson and
Yamahas FX Nytro XT-X Snowmobile.

Film producer Ben Pugh from London based production Between the Eyes, which is responsible for Welcome To The Punch, said: “It’s a thrill to be able to use Yamaha’s XT660X’s in Welcome To The Punch. They are set to feature in some fast, action packed chase sequences which will showcase the incredible power, speed and style of these bikes.”
