Airwaves stick with GSE for 2009

Airwaves branding will remain on GSE bikes in 2009.

Airwaves has had four fantastic years as title sponsor of GSE Racing and we're looking forward to continuing our association as Airwaves Yamaha in 2009.

Wrigley’s Airwaves will continue their partnership with GSE Racing for the 2009 British Superbike Championship season.

The deal will see the chewing-gum brand retain their status as title sponsor of the defending BSB team champions, with the Airwaves Yamaha team looking to defend their 2008 crown with a rider line-up featuring Leon Camier and James Ellison.

The sponsorship is a continuation of an agreement lasting four years, which saw GSE rebranded as Airwaves Ducati before the team pulled out of their contract with the Italian manufacturer in favour of Yamaha.

The signing of the agreement will come as a relief to GSE Racing, with speculation circulating that Airwaves were looking at focusing their branding efforts on the championship as a whole, rather than working with one team.

Wrigley’s Marketing Director Toby Baker said: “Airwaves has had four fantastic years as title sponsor of GSE Racing and we’re looking forward to continuing our association as Airwaves Yamaha in 2009. After a title winning season in 2008 I know the team will be working hard to maintain our status as the best team in the paddock. With two talented riders in Leon Camier and James Ellison, Airwaves Yamaha is sure to provide more superb racing.”

“The Airwaves Yamaha sponsorship is a superb fit for our brand values and ‘Kick up a Gear’ vision. We’ve worked hard in activating our sponsorship for the benefit of everyone involved in the sport and are looking forward to continuing this relationship.”

GSE Racing Team Manager Colin Wright added: “I am extremely pleased that Wrigley’s Airwaves will continue to support GSE Racing as we compete for a record fifth British Superbike championship. Next season will mark the start of an exciting new era for the team and one which would not be possible without the support of sponsors such as Airwaves.”
