Aoyama to miss Assen round
Hiroshi Aoyama will miss the sixth round of the MotoGP season at Assen this weekend after fracturing a vertebra during a crash in the warm-up at Silverstone on Sunday.
The Interwetten Honda rider missed the British Grand Prix following the crash in the morning warm-up session before a scan revealed that he had suffered a fracture to his vertebra T12.
The rookie rider was transferred to Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford on Sunday and a where second CT scan performed on Monday morning confirmed that the injury had not worsened overnight. The Japanese rider will leave to return home to Barcelona later today (Tuesday) but has been ruled out of the Dutch TT at Assen.
The Interwetten Honda team have also confirmed that they will not be calling up a replacement rider for the round in the Netherlands, meaning that there will be no Interwetten bike on the grid this weekend.
