Bayliss desperate for WSB return
Former World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss has admitted that he is considering a return to motorcycle racing, less than two years after retiring from the sport.
The 41 year old, who hung up his helmet after winning the 2008 championship with Ducati, told US website SuperbikePlanet.com that he feels that he quit the sport too early claimed that he is missing the buzz of competitive motorcycle racing.
“All I can say is that I am going back to ride the bike again,” said the Australian, “and I am thinking about starting again, honestly.”
Since quitting the sport, Bayliss has been involved with V8 Supercars, racing in the Phillip Island 500 and Bathurst 1000 in Australia but he now admits that he is itching to get back into racing and overtake the four championships won by British superbike legend Carl Fogarty.
“I quit too early,” he added. “I’m p****d off because I stopped one championship short of Fogarty and I’m seven wins down on him.
“I’m not joking,” he said. “This is basically all I want to say for now. If I do come back, I should be on a Ducati.”
