BBC to show MotoGP in HD
The BBC has confirmed that the final two rounds of the MotoGP season will be shown live in high definition on the BBC HD channel.
The broadcaster has announced that viewers will be able to see the Portuguese Grand Prix on October 31 and the Valencian Grand Prix on November 7 in high definition – the first time that the championship has been shown in HD in the UK.
HD broadcasts of MotoGP have been available in over countries since the start of this season, following a series of trials the previous year, but the BBC is yet to carry a HD broadcast of a MotoGP event so far.
That will change in what the BBC is calling a “trial run” for MotoGP on the BBC HD channel for the final two rounds, the corporation has confirmed.
“The BBC HD Channel will continue to bring programming such as Top Gear, Wimbledon, children’s programming, golf coverage, great drama, comedy, music and factual programmes from BBC Two, Three and Four throughout the week,” read a BBC statement. “We can also announce that this year we’ll bring viewers some of the last races of this year’s Moto GP in HD as a trial run for the sport on the channel.”
