Biaggi ready to upset British fans
Max Biaggi is preparing to upset the British fans this weekend at Donington as he looks to build on his strong start to the World Superbike championship.
The defending champion, who claimed two second place finishes at Phillip Island last month, is looking forward to WSB’s return to Donington Park and is hoping to upset the home crowd, who will have five Brits to cheer on this weekend.
Biaggi admitted that he will be up against a determined “patrol” of Brits throughout the weekend but he is confident that his Aprilia is up to the task on what is a notoriously demanding circuit.
“Donington Park is a track that I like very much,” he claimed. “I’ve always been able to achieve good results there and even riding the RSV4 for the first time in 2009 I took a spot on the podium. This is a good time for us; we have just come from a difficult track like Phillip Island with the certainty that we are still competitive.
“On this track we must not underestimate the thick patrol of English riders who always find some special motivation when they are playing on their home turf. In any case, we’re ready to take on their attacks along with the uncertain weather factor which could also shuffle the cards on the table. I feel fit and I’m ready to battle.”
