Biaggi setting high expectations in 2010

Max Biaggi believes that his Aprilia RSV4 can propel him to the World Superbike Championship in 2010, claiming that the team has “real potential”.

Aprilia enjoyed an impressive debut season in 2009 after returning to the championship, with Biaggi picking up nine podiums including a win at Brno for the team, putting him fourth in the rider’s standings and Aprilia ahead of Suzuki, BMW and Kawasaki in the constructor’s championship.

And Biaggi is planning to build on the impressive form that he showed towards the end of 2009 to challenge the likes of Haga, Fabrizio, Toseland and Crutchlow in 2010.

“I am ready for the 2010 season which will be full of high expectations,” the Italian wrote on his personal website. “You can be sure that Aprilia and I will be aiming to conduct a championship at the highest possible level. For sure I won’t be underestimating anyone, but I am also convinced of our real potential.

“It will be a good season and I’m beginning the year with a good chance right from the start, seeing as we finished the second half of the 2009 season at the top. The last tests at Valencia told us that we are fast and have good race pace.

“At the end of January we’ll be at Portimão, and then we’ll be in a position to understand what the coming season will be like seeing as all the official teams will be present. We’ll have some new developments to test, and hopefully they will be a good step forward over 2009.”
