Biaggi To Fight Pain Barrier
Max Biaggi will race in this weekend’s Valencia World Superbikes round despite a broken wrist sustained last month.
The Italian suffered a 170mph crash during the WSB second round at Phillip Island as rival Troy Bayliss built up a substantial early lead in the championship race and Biaggi is determined to ride through the pain barrier in an attempt to cut that deficit and has been undergoing daily treatment in an attempt to get fit for this weekend.
Biaggi currently trails Bayliss by a staggering 52 points after just two rounds.
In a statement released this morning, Biaggi said:
“I have decided to go to Valencia to try to race. We are aware of the difficulties that we will meet but I will grit my teeth and I will have confidence in the total assistance of the Mobile Clinic. My objective is to race and to pick up the highest number of possible points.
Today is exactly one month since my accident in Australia and today I will remove the cast from the arm. But to have all movement would have been impossible for Valencia. I am working every day for the rehabilitation and to decrease the strong pains to the damaged ligaments. It will be hard but I will try!”
