Biaggi wins Golden Helmet award

Max Biaggi picked up the ‘Golden Helmet’ award in Bologna this week in recognition of his World Superbike Championship success.

The Aprilia rider picked up the award in Bologna, presented by Italian magazine Motosprint.

Biaggi’s success came as he secured the World Superbike title in only Aprilia’s second season back in WSB.

“It’s nice to win the gold helmet, but the top riders have a very specific meaning, which fills me with pride. It was nice to win again. It’s been a long time. L ‘ last time was in 1998 “.

Toni Cairoli won a gong for his MX title and Toni Elias for his Moto2 win. Emilio Alzamora accepted the award on behalf of Marc Marquez who was busy testing for the forthcoming season.

Jorge Lorenzo also won but was unable to attend due to other commitments but a video was shown of the MotoGP champion receiving his award.

Valentino Rossi was a noticeable absence but he did take time out to make a phone call: “I regret not being there. Next year I’ll try to come back, and it will necessarily have to win”.
