Bimota put Moto2 entry through its paces
Bimota put their Moto2 entry through its paces at the weekend with the Italian manufacturer lifting the curtain on their 600cc racer for the first time.
Bimota will be a new to Grand Prix racing in 2010 with their Moto2 entry, which was reported to be using a tuned 600cc Honda CBR engine as teams await official engines from Honda’s European tuning division Ten Kate.
Roberto Tamburini was the young rider that was given the honour of riding the Bimota HB4 in Binetto and whilst poor weather hampered the team’s progress.
At present the Moto2 entry list has yet to be confirmed but speculation has suggested that Bimota could run under the FB Corse banner in 2010, although Bimota sales manager Bimota Piero Channel claimed that they were still in discussion over their future plans.
“We are in talks with five or six teams,” he told the newspaper Voice of Romagna. “Some very ambitious, they see a good eye on our chassis and above all rely on our experience as manufacturers of bicycle racing. For the moment we took a fact little support as the FB because we do not want the longer wheelbase of the leg. This 2010 will be a transition year, running for this new category which we do not know many things.
“Despite the caution we believe we have done a great trellis frame, able not to mourn those who have donated so much in the ’80s and ’90s made famous around the world our brand”.
