Brookes called up to WSB opener
HM Plant Honda rider Josh Brookes will make a brief return to World Superbikes as he replaces the injured Broc Parkes on the Echo CRS Honda at Phillip Island.
Parkes was ruled out of the opening round of the season, taking place in Australia next weekend, after breaking his right tibia in a training accident and the Sydney born Brookes has been drafted in as a replacement, with him still in Australia ahead of the British Superbike season.
Brookes is no stranger to Phillip Island, having won as a wildcard at the circuit in the World Supersport series in 2004 and made 29 starts in WSB in 2006 and 2007.
The wildcard ride will also allow Brookes to temporarily renew his rivalry with former BSB adversaries Leon Camier, now with Aprilia, and Sylvain Guintoli, riding with Alstare Suzuki.
