Round two of the brand new Dunlop ACU Moto Star Championship heads north to Croft this weekend when the cream of Britain’s club racers converge on the North Yorkshire race track to do battle once again.

After the opening round at Brands, all is still to play for in the various classes at what has been dubbed ‘The Ultimate Club Race Series’ whereby up-and-coming riders get the chance to climb the ladder of success via the plethora of classes.

In the 125cc GP class, Yorkshire brothers James and Jonathan Lodge will be hoping to continue their domination whilst in the ultra-popular 250cc event; Alex Kenchington makes the long trip up from the West Country to defend his lead but will come under pressure from Chesterfield veteran Lee Dickinson and Croft specialist Barry Utting from Penrith.

The Suzuki GSX-R 600 Trophy will see Chesham rider Lee Hodge looking for another victory and other series leaders in action includes Swindon’s Aiden Simmons in the Sports Production 80 class and Royston rider James East in the 125cc Academy Cup.

In the sidecar ranks, the Battle of the Roses will be once again played out between Yorkshiremen Simon Neary and Stu Bond who beat Lancastrians John Holden and Andy Winkle although local ace Tony Thirkell from Thirsk will be in the mix.

Also included in the Auto 66 Club-organised and promoted event is the resurrected Northern Masters Championship and will see healthy grids for the support races.

Local riders expected to feature in the Senior Cup include Barnard Castle’s Rob Brown and Darlington rider Richard Clennell whereas in the 125GP event, Jason Dobson from Ripon is expected to do well. York rider Stephen Boyes returns to action in the 250cc class and ex British Championship rider Ian Knights from Barnard Castle is one of the favourites for 600cc honours.

In the Sidecar Open, expect Catterick Garrison rider Greg Lambert to be up front as he battles it out with Whitby’s Dave Atkinson and Richard Ellis from Stockton.

Practice gets underway at 09.30 on Saturday with qualifying from 10.45 and then the first of nine races getting underway at 13.00. Sunday’s action commences at 12.10 with a nine further races starting at 13.00.
